Follow these steps in order to get started with an SPG/VSP appliance. It is assumed that the appliance is factory reset.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot access the appliance, there are a few few things to try. If you know the password, and can access the console, it can be used to set an IP address. If you don't know the password, reboot into the recovery console and enable the recovery mode.
VSP (VMware/Citrix) instructions
VSP (virtual machine) users should read the corresponding document on getting started with VSP.
SPG (Hardware) instruction
- Connect the power adapter/cable between the appliance and the power grid outlet.
- Connect a workstation with a web browser (like Mozilla Firefox[1]) with the appliance Ethernet connector number 1 with a cross-wired RJ45 cable (usually included). Alternatively, a patch RJ45 cable can be used if a switch, or auto-sensning workstation, is used.
- Configure the workstation to use the IP address 169.254.1.2 and netmask 255.255.0.0.
- Start a web browser and go to https://169.254.1.1
- The Web Administration sign in page has a characteristic blue background
- The default configuration username and password is "admin"
