Halon Security:About
Halon Security is a privately held company providing network security appliances and services headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. Today the company's main focus is on protection against spam and email security.
Halon started out as a firewall brand. In 2004, it's first product based on OpenBSD was released by Skal Soft, a sub-diary of Skal Consulting Group AB. A complete remake was launched in January 2006, based on their H/OS platform running on top of a FreeBSD kernel. In early 2007, Halon Security was established as a sub-diary of Skal Consulting Group AB.
The first hardware spam appliance (named SPG) running on H/OS 2 was introduced in December 2007 with technology licensed from Commtouch and Kaspersky. The virtual machine edition (VSP) was launched for VMware in October 2008, and later support for Citrix XenServer was added in October 2009.
